![]() ![]() I am dealing with this problem at the moment and have just had a bit of a revelation, due to an offhand comment by one of my teachers that it keeps disrupting her presentations, I have found that Powerpoint seems to be responsible. The Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\PowerPoint\Options\RestoreTopology (Dword 1) settingįrom microsoft but it still often reverts back to screen only. So I'm back with some news, it is still changing the display settings across almost all of our boards and it would appear it triggers when a user opens PowerPoint. I've just added the RestoreTopology registry to our GPOs I will report back on this once I've had chance to test some more. Good spot I'll have a look if this is causing it! I know that our teachers use a different presentation software regularly, but every now and then they go into PowerPoint. Out of interest what Windows 10 are you running, we're on Windows 10 Education 1709. I'm so glad it's not just me! I've been going mad over here wondering if it's something we've done. maybe there's some settings I can adjust to try and trick it to thinking it's still connected. I think your suggestion around the TV not being recognised when it's off would be somewhere to look into. These are all brand new devices/cables and it's happening on multiple devices. As far as hot keys go I don't think so but I will double check. I though along similar lines, but I haven't tried downloading the drivers direct from manufacturer rather than Lenovo. If anyone has any ideas I'd be open to try them. I'd like to fix the problem permanently rather than users having to change the display settings every so often. I got the task working on a local machine triggered at any user logon, but the group policy doesn't configure scheduled tasks properly in windows 10 (yawn Microsoft.) TV -> HDMI -> Lenovo branded HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter -> ComputerĪs a workaround we did try and enumerate "DisplaySwitch.exe /clone" using a scheduled task and group policy. We have several Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 desktops plugged into 70" CleverTouch Plus TV's, and several monitors (mixed brands) as shown: ![]() I've now taught our staff to use Win P to put it back to duplicate when it happens, but it is infuriating that it keeps resetting itself - it shouldn't! Follow the instructions below to change the external display settings.Has anyone else experienced Windows 10 periodically reverting display settings from duplicate, to extended, to screen only?Īt random intervals, whether its logon, startup, or even whilst using the computers the display will switch from duplicate back to either extend or screen only. ![]() Windows uses the term Duplicate instead of Mirroring. To turn on (or off) Desktop Mirror click the small icon of a monitor on the upper right side of the menu bar and select Turn On Mirroring Changing the Desktop Mirroring Setting Windows – Change External Display Mode In Extend Mode the external display is treated as a separate screen so that you can have a different windows open on the projector and desktop. It is easy to switch between the two settings. In Mirror Mode the computer monitor duplicates the monitor on the external display so that you see the same picture on both the desktop and projector. When connected to an external display, Mac and Windows computers have two different display modes: Mirror and Extend. ![]()
